5 Gut Friendly Warming Winter Soups
If I'm having trouble with my stomach and want an easy way to get lots of nutrients into my body easily, I'll go for a gut friendly soup recipe. I'll add lots of herbs and spices that help to soothe my gut and top these soups with some seeds, olive oil or roast veg to give it extra flavour, texture and nutrient power. You can also top with cooked meat, pesto or nuts & seeds to add some crunch.
Butternut Squash & Coconut Soup
The health benefits of the humble butternut squash are surprisingly lengthy. Rich in fibre (for healthy digestion), phytonutrients (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, ), vitamins and minerals, this bright orange veg is health giving in many ways. Rich in antioxidants A, D, E, vitamin C and B vitamins, three spoonfuls of butternut squash counts as one of your 5 (or 9) a day. Butternut squash also contains calcium, potassium, magnesium and zinc.
Cajun Dirty Rice
This is a real client favourite! This is a really quick meal to create but is full of flavour and very comforting. Perfect for a after a hard day at work.
5 Autumn / Winter Smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to add to your fruit and vegetable intake and although I do combine my fruits and vegetables it doesn’t mean you have to. When it comes to digestion and digestive health, everyone is different. We each have a unique microbiome and respond to foods differently.
