The Functional Nutrition Starter Kit

Putting the pieces of your health timeline together

Isn’t it funny how time flies?

I started studying functional medicine and nutritional approaches to well being 10 years ago this Summer. Little did I know at that very first appointment my life was going to change immeasurably.

There are a few things that I wish I knew back then. The biggest think I wish I know and really understood is the power of tracking.

Setting a base line. Getting down a timeline. Looking a little deeper at my habits. Then looking at the bigger picture.

In functional medicine there is a matrix, a way that we look at a full medical history. In it’s simplest form its a time line. A way of organising your health information chronologically, preconception to present day.

Preconception health. Crazy right?

But it’s so important for us to know your family history.

We existed as premature eggs in our grandmothers womb. Whatever stress, nutrition or health circumstances your grandmother or mother experienced will have directly impacted on your health and well being. Add to that we now know so much more about the role of healthy sperm in foetal development and gut health so your fathers health was pretty important too.

Family history of autoimmunity, metabolic issues, cardiovascular disease along side eating habits, stress management and hormone shifts are also critical pieces of your health puzzle.

Your habits and health history

In functional medicine nutrition, your own health history, experiences, life circumstances as well as medications, exercise and eating habits are hugely important in figuring out the root cause and the approach we take.

Take SIBO for example. t might stem from something you completely forgot about! It can develop after a surgery, or because of an intolerance or a really bad stomach bug. It can hang around for years! How we get rid of it and make sure it doesn’t come back depends on your health history.

The starter kit

I created a simple, free, starter kit to help you track all this and more. It is designed to can help you figure out what’s going on with your health so that you can take action and know what you need to do (with having to make an appointment or invest in unnecessary tests or supplements).

I’ve also recorded a video to help you get started and get the most out of it.

As I get feedback on it, I will updated and more resources to it. This will all be sent to you if you sign up for the starter kit.

You can access it here.

And as always, I’d love to hear what you think, what’s missing and what would be most helpful to know next.
